Compliant privacy
Murk is private, but not a black box for illicit funds. It keeps clean money private and lets honest users prove their funds are clean — without giving anyone the power to freeze, seize, or read your balance.
How it works
- Screening at the door. A deposit can be checked against sanctions data before it's allowed into the pool. Clean funds go in; flagged ones don't.
- Proof of innocence. Every private action carries a zero‑knowledge proof that its funds descend from an approved source — an "association set" of vetted deposits. You prove your money's origin is clean without revealing your balance, your counterparties, or your history.
- Viewing keys. You can hand an auditor a read‑only viewing key so they can verify your activity. It can never spend or move anything.
It never becomes custody
Compliance here is about proof, not control. No operator, authority, or admin can move your funds, freeze them, or read them. If an origin is ever removed from the approved set, affected funds simply stop being privately spendable — they're never confiscated.
Emergency exit
If your funds are ever caught by a change to the approved set and a normal reveal won't go through, an emergency exit always returns them to you. It gives up privacy for that one exit (the funds' origin becomes public) but guarantees you never lose access to your own money. Use it only if a normal reveal fails.
